Teaching Experience
As a college adjunct assistant professor or instructor, I taught courses in English, communication, ethics, and Western culture. In Maryland, 1999 to 2004, the courses were college writing and literature courses. In Maine from 2004 to 2013, I taught courses in communication, ethics, and Western philosophy, art, and culture. The courses are listed below.
Writing courses:
Introduction to Literature
College Writing
Argumentation and Research
Business Writing
Technical Writing
Other courses:
Speech
Interpersonal Communication
Ethics
Introduction to Western Philosophy
Western Thought and Culture
Adjuncts frequently teach a number of courses in one semester, sometimes at several schools. From 1999 to 2013, I generally taught four or five courses per academic year, frequently at more than one school. (Adjunct pay is too low to allow a teacher to make a full-time living by teaching at only one school.) As a result, I have a broad background in writing, organizing, ideas, and culture generally.
These are the schools where I taught:
Montgomery College, Rockville, MD
Prince George’s Community College, Largo, MD
Baltimore County Community College, Catonsville, MD
Maryland College of Art and Design, Silver Spring, MD
University of Southern Maine, Lewiston-Auburn, ME
University of Southern New Hampshire, Brunswick, ME
